Calypso St. Barth at Target, oh my!!

I am excited to report that through the grapevine, ie other blogs and my mother, I have heard that Calypso St. Barth is coming to Target tomorrow! I have to say--I am soo happy that so many designers are coming to Target to premier their lovelies. I have only recently become more familiar with the brand and love the airy clothing with interesting prints and patterns. I just so happened to even purchase two of their lovely pieces this past Easter weekend in a boutique store in Soho that I am oh so excited to model this spring and summer for the various showers and 4 weddings I have :) Might I add that they were both on sale which helped seal the deal in purchasing them... I love that they are unique and will be fun new pieces to add to my wardrobe.

I'd suggest that you not walk but run to your closest Target to pick the best of the loot, as I remember when Liberty of London for Target hit stores and people were there very early, women were buying armfuls of key items, included cute umbrellas with bold prints, and people were itching to get their hands on the best stuff. So go and have some fun!!

"Target’s newest design collaboration with Calypso St. Barth is perfect for the coming summer. Everything you love about Calypso–the breezy printed tunics, airy white linen dresses, maxi dresses and tiny bikinis–is there, but at a fraction of the cost. The line–which also includes kids, accessories, and home (don’t miss the adorable ceramic elephants)–retails for between $1.99 to $79.99 and will available in store from May 1 through June 11 and on Target.com through August 15."

A Royal Watch Party

Despite how many times I try to tell myself that I will be waking up at 5am to tune into the most widely watched wedding of the century, I know I will not be pulling myself out of bed in my coffee mug pjs and tank top to watch the adorable couple while dining on biscuits and tea.

I put some images below so that those of you who are getting up at the crack of dawn (I know my mother is rising at 5am and has her dvr programed for the 4am pre-wedding discussion, love my mother!) to watch can have lovely photos and maybe go all out and print out the cute William and Kate printouts for a little Royal Watch Party.

to print out your own at home,
go to: http://designeditor.typepad.com/design_editor/2011/04/free-royal-wedding-party-printables.html

Don't get me wrong, I have NBC all set up on my Tivo to tape 6 hours worth of the wedding coverage and I can not WAIT to get a looksy at Kate in her wedding dress. I wonder which of the lucky designers she chose. I love how classic, elegant and sophisticated Kate is, and hey she has a great name :) She and William sure make a wonderful couple and I am looking forward to sneaking several peeks into the wedding through media outlets, and pictures.

Goodnight everyone, and those of you early risers, be sure to give me the whole scoopsince you will be up several hours before I am and those of you taking the day off tomorrow to have yourself a Royal tea party, enjoy... and be sure to plan a fun little party of red and blue, tea and crumpets, diamonds and tiaras and all things Royal...
I'll need to silence my phone because knowing my mom and me and our great love and total obsession with fashion, she's going to be giving me a play by play of the dress, I just know it! :-)

Prayers for those in the South

This morning I awoke to see the horrible destruction in the South after violent tornadoes ripped through. Those that have been killed, injured, are without power, or have had their homes destroyed, my thoughts are with you and your families.
It is devastating to watch catastrophes happen in New Orleans, the oil spill off our coastline, the tsunami in Japan recently. I know I feel helpless during these trying times. My thoughts and prayers are with you...Have strength and faith in God and remember that he will help you get through even the most difficult of times.

Happy Birthday, Laur!

together most recently at my wedding in CT

out to lunch in MD

with the newlywed at her wedding in Bmore

Happy Birthday to my dear friend, Mrs. Lauren Setzer!! I wanted to write a little shout out to her on this very special day (exactly one month earlier than my bday hehe, sorry I couldn't resist). This woman and I met in college and played on the tennis team together/and happened to be in the same sorority together tooo. I knew our friendship was meant to be! I have so much respect, admiration and love in my heart for her. Lauren has truly been a loving influence on me, a big sister, a wise sounding board, and a true sweetheart to the core. She has a heart of pure gold. I remember how devastated I was when I moved to DC and then shortly after her wedding, she moved down to Jacksonville, FL. Although, I am very thankful we have stayed in touch through mass texting, phone calls, cards, and because of the strong bond we created in college, our relationship just continues to grow. All my love to the birthday girl today xoxo

Happy Easter!

This morning I went to Mass with my husband, parents and in-laws where we were able to share in the joyous news that our Lord has risen from the dead. As we celebrate Jesus' resurrection, today also stands as a glorious day spent with dear loved ones, flowers are popping up all around us in full bloom--Nature seems to be joining in the celebration of life as daffodils, tulips, forsythia, brighten the world around us, delicious brunch goodies and appreciation for all that is good in this world.

I hope however you spent this day it was filled to the brim with love and appreciation of all of life's goodness~

The Kennedys-A Mini Series

Recently the Reelz television channel did a mini series on The Kennedys. Although I wasn't sure how accurate Katie Holmes' accent was, I found the series very addicting and an interesting way to get a closer glimpse into this 'royal' family, the pressures they faced, the relationship between the President and his wife, Jackie's efforts to always put her family first, despite all sacrifices and hopefully gave me a realistic glimpse into life of The Kennedys.

I got my fill of history and another look at Jackie's fabulous clothing selections. That woman sure knew how to dress and carried herself so perfectly as the First Lady. It inspired me to pull out a coffee table book that I cherish called "A Thousand Days of Magic: Dressing Jacqueline Kennedy for the White House" by Oleg Cassini. Cassini who was the creator of the "Jackie look" made the First Lady one of the best-dressed women in the world and a glamourous icon of the Kennedy era. He designed over 300 outfits for Jackie Kennedy-coats, dresses, evening gowns, suits, and day wear. He also coordinated every detail of her wardrobe, from shoes and hats to gloves and handbags. This book is a must-have to add to your coffee book collection and gives wonderful accounts of Jackie's letters to her world class designer!

My parents gave me dvds of the series Mad Men when they came to visit for the cherry blossoms and I think that will have to be the next series I get into, what could be better than steamy love triangles, wonderful wardrobes and past eras in time :)

Weekend Delight

This weekend was all things perfect--the weather was gorgeous on Sunday, even though Saturday was filled with rain showers, it just meant that my friends and I had to share umbrellas and huddle a little closer together, of course we had no problem with the latter :)

Anyway, to add to the list of all things perfect, some of my closest friends from college were in town to celebrate Lisa's bachelorette party and we had an absolutely perfect time sharing in cocktail hour with brie dip, drinks in colorful plastic glasses, and cheesy tatoos from the grocery store, Bachelorette panties, Lisa's classic line "is the picture cuuTTEEee?" giggles, bear hugs, continuous laughter at Sorriso about oversized calzones, drum playing, secret reveals about Lisa's first moments with her fiance, Nate, a little TMI but still hilariously funny, the best cab ride in the world, insert sex music, Vegas Club memories of sketchy dudes and Lisa drinking 3 shots everyone, a successful brunch with my first frittata making, colorful beads, Lisa's perfect quote of the weekend, "you guys might make great meals for your families but I atleast will be able to french braid my daughter's hair!!" and having the best time with the friends that mean the world to you. This all equals weekend perfection and memories to last a lifetime

~Pictures to come soon~
